Learn why meat is bad for you and why you should avoid it. Read about the studies that link meat consumption to cancer, cardiovascular diseases and more.

Meat is one of the many important sources of protein, but it also proves to be poor in minerals and vitamins. Through various scientific research, it has been proven that meat consumption produces multiple disorders in our bodies. In the following paragraphs, I will share with you some of the info I have gathered before I decided to completely eliminate meat from my diet. I hope that this will help you make the right decision in choosing your diet.

1. Vegs vs. Non-Vegs Study A recent study among 50,000 lacto-vegetarians emphasized extraordinary results that have shocked the world in the field of cancer research. The study clearly shows that this group presents an incredibly low percentage of people with cancer compared to a similar age and sex group, made up of people with higher meat consumption. The survey also shows that the life expectancy of the lacto-vegetarian group is much higher and all cardiovascular diseases are present in their case in a much lower percentage. As you know I have eliminated all dairy products from my diet. In a previous post, I wrote about why milk and other dairy products are bad for your health. It is also proven that cancer percentage among vegans is almost 0%, feel free to draw the conclusions yourselves.

2. Why Meat Is Bad For You | Meat consumption related to cancer? One of the reasons why people who eat meat are more prone to develop cancer is the following: we all know that a few days after killing an animal, its meat turns to a gray-green olive unhealthy colour; to prevent this degradation, the meat industry currently uses different substances such as nitrates and other preservatives to make it artificially (but unhealthily) look like it’s fresh by giving it a healthier shade of red. Research done in recent years has also demonstrated several times that these are profoundly carcinogenic preservatives. On the other hand, to bring as much profit as possible, animals are often stuffed with growth hormones, appetite stimulants, antibiotics and chemical food mixtures. These chemicals are known to be carcinogenic, yet nobody changes anything.

3. Heart diseases Over time, animal fats, such as cholesterol, cover the blood vessels’ walls. As the diameter of these vessels progressively decreases, the blood pressure increases, which results in a higher vulnerability to heart diseases.

4. Putrefaction Unlike plants, which have a rigid cell membrane and a simple circulatory system, animal cells die quickly when the circulation is stopped. Immediately after death, the animal proteins coagulate and self-defeating enzymes are secreted. Meat, fish, and eggs all share a common characteristic: they decompose and rot very quickly. Most meat is consumed usually within a week or two from killing the animal, which may not seem like a long time. However, it must be stressed that the increase in the number of bacteria begins almost immediately after the animal’s death. The habit of eating meat in its characteristic state of rapid decomposition creates a toxic environment in the colon. Additionally, it results in the premature ageing of the gastrointestinal tract.

5. Bad Energy As you all know, the human body is made up of many living cells. The nature of the subtle energies of our living cells is formed depending on the type of food that we eat. If the human body cells develop under unnatural and unhealthy conditions, like feeding on dead, nearly rotten, disgusting meat, it is obvious that our bodies will lack the vitality and good energy needed for an optimal development of our mind and body. My advice to you: stop eating meat and dairy products! Nature provides us with everything we need, and we must treat it with respect in return. The change is in you! Stop eating meat – stop the animals’ torture! They shouldn’t have to be sacrificed for our cravings, and our bodies shouldn’t suffer the negative effects of meat and dairy consumption, either. Here are two of the life-changing documentaries that I watched. I hope that watching them will positively influence you, too.

  • Earthlings*

  • Food Matters

  • Food Inc.

*I have to mention that I stopped watching this documentary after the first 15 minutes. I just couldn’t see those horrible images of animal torture anymore. Unfortunately, this is the cruel reality. Even though I couldn’t watch the whole movie, it was enough for me to realize that this world has gone wrong and something MUST be changed in the way we think about animals and in our eating habits. This change is possible; being good to each other and respecting all earthlings is one step of the process. We must understand that humans aren’t the supreme rulers of this planet and unless we become kinder and more empathetic of other living beings, we will one day suffer the consequences.

In this article I will give you a couple of strong, study-based reasons why milk is bad for you. Here they are!

Cow’s milk is for cows. There is nothing wrong with drinking milk from birth until the age of two with only one condition, that the milk is breast milk, or fresh, unprocessed, natural goat milk.

Cow’s milk is rich in protein, minerals and fats, which is necessary for the calves to grow in weight (between 136 and 226 pounds in a year). Needless to say, babies do not grow at the same pace. Cow’s milk is at least four times richer in protein content and has a concentration of minerals six times higher than human milk. Such concentrated milk is very difficult to digest for babies.

The amount of enzymes produced by the body to digest dairy products is much smaller than the amount produced by cows. In the absence of the necessary enzymes, human newborns will have digestive problems and an excessive secretion of mucus in the sinus cavities, lungs, brain and ears. Many forms of allergies are the result of excessive congestion which originates from the consumption of cow’s milk.

1. Adults cannot digest milk at all.

That’s why they will develop inflammatory problems as they advance in age. Cow’s milk is very low in essential fatty acids, which are vital for the human body in the production of cholesterol, steroids, brain and other nervous tissues.

In the third to fourth year, most children lose their milk digesting enzymes, especially lactase, which breaks down lactose – the main sugar present in milk. When the body lacks the enzymes needed for digesting milk, it increases mucus production.

2. Pasteurized cow’s milk is even worse!

Well then, how about pasteurized cow’s milk? It’s actually worse. Under the action of heat, the chemical structure of milk changes and forms a product that generates alkalinity, thus turning milk into a highly acidic substance. In chemistry, if we want to change a chemical compound we heat-treat it. The intervention of heat in cooking food destroys all water-soluble vitamins, especially vitamin C and B complex.

3. Milk actually takes calcium OT of your body.

Milk contains calcium, but it’s not the best source of calcium for humans. Calcium is a mineral substance that is abundant in nature. The highest concentration of calcium is found in sesame seeds and marine plants such as kelp. The proper use of calcium occurs in the presence of magnesium. Calcium and magnesium in fruits and especially vegetables are compatible.

Leafy dark greens abound in calcium, magnesium and flavonoids, absolutely necessary for the correct usage of each of the elements. Cow’s milk has more calcium than magnesium. It is estimated that less than 20% of the body assimilates the calcium that’s present in milk. We assimilate more calcium taken from fruit juices, nuts, and seeds, than milk.

4. Parasites will develop faster because of the amounts of mucus produced by dairy consumption.

Parasites are another downside related to the consumption of cow’s milk. It is estimated that over 60% of the cows bred in America have one or more of the following parasites: leukemia virus, salmonella, and tuberculosis bacillus. Of all the foods that we eat, milk and dairy products are those that stimulate the formation of mucus the most, followed by refined sugars.

5. Dairy products contain the recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH)

Another problem related to the consumption of milk is posed by the effects of the recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH). The Monsanto Corporation developed the bovine growth hormone from E. coli bacteria. The growth hormone was originally developed in order to increase milk production. Some studies show that the growth hormone (rBGH) is carcinogenic. Numerous studies show that this hormone increases the risk of developing cancer.

Discover the truth about the foods you eat. Do not be fooled by the media or other sources of our capitalist society where money has become more important than health and human welfare. It is essential to detoxify your body of the congestions accumulated in so many years of consumption of products that form mucus. Minimize or completely eliminate the foods that cause your body harm, and focus on cleaning your body and nourishing it with fresh, dairy-free, meat-free foods. If you do this, you will instantly see positive results and you’ll enjoy better health for years to come.

Here's how you can make the tastiest eggplant salad! It will come out sweet, light in colour, fragrant and delicious every time

Eggplant salad is one of my favourite recipes. This and the famous zacusca are two of the recipes I make every year when the eggplant season comes. I could eat them in industrial quantities! 🙂

There are several ways to make eggplant salad. Below, I will present some methods by which you can "upgrade" the basic eggplant salad:

  • Add mayonnaise! Some people prefer to add a little mayonnaise to the eggplant salad, both to make it lighter in color and to give it a special flavour. For eggplant salad with mayonnaise, two tablespoons are enough for the amount shown in the recipe below.

  • Add garlic instead of onion! Are you in the Onion or Garlic fan camp? You can make eggplant salad with garlic, adding about 2-3 mashed puppies instead of onions.

  • Make it simple! I added some onions, because that's how I was taught to make eggplant salad, but if you want it simple, you can omit the onion from the recipe below.

  • Change its texture. If you want to try something different, take a look at my baked eggplant cream recipe. The ingredients are about the same, only the processing method differs. Blending will result in a mousse-like texture.

  • Season it! I love the Lebanese version of eggplant salad! Have you tried mutabal so far? It's a very similar recipe, only it has a special ingredient - tahini!

Tips for a perfect eggplant salad

My mother taught me some useful tricks to make the best eggplant salad every time. Here they are!

  • Drain the eggplant . Thus all the "bitterness" will come out of them, and they will be sweeter in taste. Use a wood or plastic shredder, not a metal surface. That way they won't oxidize.

  • Keep the eggplant salad in a plastic or glass container. Not metal! For the same reason mentioned above.

  • Bake them on the flame, on the stove. In the recipe below I put the version with the grill because it is more comfortable, but the eggplants baked on the flame are the tastiest. Yes ... you will dirty your stove in a big way, but if you make larger quantities to put in the freezer, it's worth it!

  • Choose smaller and thinner eggplants. They are sweeter and have fewer seeds.

  • Leave the salad to cool in the fridge for at least an hour before serving. That is if you have patience and do not enjoy it as soon as you did! 🙂
